Before we even head to ringside for the show, we head backstage--specifically to the parking garage, to find the reigning World Champion, Kaitlin Williams, flanked by a couple of security guards; despite her recent...misgivings about the tour and the way things have gone, there’s a certain confidence that’s returned to her smirk as she makes her way into the arena, title slung over her shoulder and dressed to the nines in, notably, the same suit she was wearing a few weeks ago. The fans erupt in boos the moment the World Champion appears on camera, but Kaitlin either doesn’t know that, or doesn’t care; the confident smirk remains on her face, even as grim determination fills her eyes. She makes a bee-line through the garage, toward the arena, interrupted by the sudden appearance of one of Fusion’s intrepid reporters, Devyn Mitchell.
Devyn Mitchell: “Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we end our Puerto Rican tour with night one of Invasion, a massive show from top to bottom, capped off with a defense of the Zion World Championship between Victory Series winner Gianna Rojas, and my guest at this time, the reigning World Champion herself, Kaitlin Williams!”
Kaitlin...doesn’t seem particularly amused by the appearance of the redhead, and greets this attempted interview with a massive dose of side-eye, not even bothering to stop her pace; instead, she forces Devyn to keep up with her if she wants to get answers to any questions. And while our dear reporter struggles for a moment, she does manage to keep pace with the Crown Jewel--mostly, at any rate.
Devyn Mitchell: “And Kaitlin, I just wanted to get your thoughts on tonight’s match, you’ve been...unusually reserved for most of this tour, but tonight...”
Before Devyn can continue, Kaitlin snaps her head in her direction, giving her a glare...but not actually saying anything. The corner of her mouth twists into a sneer as her pace starts to slow down; she doesn’t stop, but it’s enough that Devyn’s not having to try to powerwalk while interviewing her at least.
Devyn Mitchell: “O...kay, um. I guess we’ll put a pin in that; you and Gianna obviously have a history here in Zion, and it’s not exactly amicable--you both have wins over the other in the past, but neither of them have been particularly decisive, do you see tonight as putting an end to...whatever all this is?”
Kaitlin’s sneer...doesn’t go away; if anything, it twists even further, into a full-on scowl, as she’s reminded of the loss a couple weeks ago. Once again, she just shakes her head dismissively, turning her focus back to just...getting into the arena, seemingly not worried about any more of these questions.
Devyn Mitchell: “Alright...well, what about the Chance Briefcase match happening before your match tonight? If you retain the title against Gianna, is there any concern that the winner of that might pick tonight to cash in after that match?”
Kaitlin finally reaches the door into the arena, grabbing the handle...before finally stopping, and pivoting to stare Devyn in the eyes; she doesn’t look any more interested in this interview, but finally, the Aussie speaks up on any of the Briton’s questions.
Kaitlin Williams: “You are just...desperate for a comment, huh? Fine, here you go: tonight, I send this entire goddamn island home crying. Every single person in this arena, every single person on this island watching this show, they’re all pulling for Rojas to the point of fucking assaulting me to show it...and I’m going to send them all home in tears. I’m not just going to beat her tonight, I’m going to put an end to her Fusion career and send her packing off to whatever brand will take her by the time I’m done. As for the Chance Briefcase, a word of advice to whoever wins that: pick someone else. Go after Slayton, go after Carabajal, go after anyone but me if you don’t want to be sent home in fucking traction.
Kaitlin Williams: “Tonight is not the night to risk your well-being, coming for me.”
Kaitlin pulls the door open, more aggressively than she probably needs to, not bothering with her usual sign-off or catchphrase, just...cutting into the arena, slamming the door behind her, leaving Devyn blinking in shock at how terse the Crown Jewel is. After a moment, she manages to recover herself and glances over to the camera with an...anxious kind of smile, before we finally cut to ringside.
And now, Zion Wrestling Presents…Invasion: Puerto Rico!
We cut to the inside of Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, in a sweeping drone shot that shows the sea of screaming fans filling the stands. The drone then stops itself just short of the stage which begins to become showered with pyro from all angles of the giant screens covering it! We then cut over to the announce table, where we see Matt Mears and Ben Petrie there to start the night!
Matt Mears: After a long wait, we are here! All of Zion Wrestling’s finest under one roof to invade the Island of Enchantment! Welcome…to Invasion: Puerto Rico! I’m Matt Mears, joined by Ben Petrie here to represent Wednesday Night Wasteland for our first contest of the evening!
Ben Petrie: If you’re unfamiliar with the pink brand, then you know it’s chock full of show-stealers and bar-setters. Unfortunately, the competitors in our first match are neither, but that still shouldn’t stop the B.O. ridden Zion fans from keeping their eyes glued to the screen for every second! So don’t go anywhere, because we’re getting this party started!
