We fade in on the sight of Fusion General Manager, Kai Morgan, standing behind a podium. Across from him stands members of the press, waiting in anticipation for his address. The background location of all this is unclear, though the look on Morgan’s face tells us where about to find out.
Kai Morgan: Hello. For those who don’t know me, my name is Kai Morgan. Co-Executive of Talent Relations for Zion Wrestling, and the General Manager of Friday Night Fusion. I want to start things off by thanking all the members of the press who were able to come out here today, as well as congratulate the entire Zion Wrestling roster of talent and staff on a successful tour of Japan!
The press claps at this sentiment, sharing in Morgan’s appreciation of the roster.
Kai Morgan: And it’s important that I give that appreciation, because those talents and staff, coincidentally, are the focal point of my address here today. In a little over a month's time, we will be hitting the two years since I first assumed my position here in Zion Wrestling. A while after that, we’ll be celebrating three years since Zion Wrestling first opened its doors.
For those of you not in the know, I am a professional wrestler myself. Have been since the age of 13. I know the struggle that comes with being made to perform at a high level. That’s why when I first took office here in Zion Wrestling, my main goal was to put talent over all else. That’s what led to the creation of the Zion Wrestling Star Factory, an avenue for aspiring performers to hone their craft and bring new life into the wrestling world.
But somewhere down the line, I lost sight of that. I can hold my hands up and say that I let my duties as an executive and my life as a professional wrestler blend together in a bad way. It’s hard to stand on a platform for talent wellness, when you’re actively sending said talent into direct war with a rival promotion. I want to issue my sincerest apologies on that front to the talent and staff, both of Zion Wrestling and New Frontier Wrestling, that were and in many ways still are affected by the events of last year.
At the climax of those events, I made a promise to myself to do right by the talent going forward, and started mapping out actions I could take to ensure that promise was upheld. Due to particular events occurring, however, I was left incapable of implementing said actions. That is why I stand before you today. When I first came back to Zion Wrestling, my main priority was ensuring the wellness of our talent. So far, I feel like progress has been made. We’ve made a massive shift in our benefits and protocols, ensuring that, at least on our end, our talent’s needs are dealt with properly. This has been massively helped along by the hirings of Dr. Alma Markos, Zion’s new Head Physician, and Dr. Eleanor Segrave, Zion’s new Talent Psychiatrist. With these two heading the charge, I have no doubt that Zion’s talent will have all the resources necessary to remain healthy and well, both in body and spirit.
The press once again began to clap at these developments.
Kai Morgan: But I realize that these measures weren’t the only thing that needed to be brought forth. Treating those who are already wounded is only half the battle in terms of talent wellness. The other half is prevention, stopping injuries before they happen. Part of doing this is by taking a good look into Zion’s touring schedule. For 46 weeks out of the year, Zion Wrestling talent are expected to travel from city to city, state to state, country to country, in order to bring entertainment and joy to fans from all over the world. That’s the way that Zion has been doing things for nearly three years. That type of schedule can take its toll on a person, both mentally and physically. So a team and I got to work on a way to eliminate this issue, whilst also being able to satisfy the fans. That’s why I brought you out today to introduce the brand new Zion Stadium!
A cloth lifts from the top of the building stood tall behind Morgan, revealing the sign of the Zion Stadium to the press.
Kai Morgan: Now I understand the idea of a promotion having a singular place to call home is nothing new. While some will likely call what I’m revealing to you today “innovative”, most will rightfully call it us just catching up with the times. Regardless, it’s not about how soon you get to something, but that you managed to get there in the end. Zion Wrestling Stadium will play host to a plethora of shows, including Monday Night Mayhem, Friday Night Fusion, and various select Supershows. On top of that, we will also allow other promotions passing through the Orlando area to utilize our space, should they want to and provided it doesn’t conflict with our broadcasts. On top of hosting our various shows, this place will also be the working quarters of our aforementioned medical staff, as well as the new home of the Zion Wrestling Star Factory.
While this will immensely cut down Zion’s touring schedule, it will also ensure that when we do commit to a tour, it will be all the more special for Zion’s fans. The next time you’ll see us leaving these four walls, it will be for our tour of the North in the lead up to our Invasion: Toronto event in October. As well as a tour of the US set to culminate in Destiny III next year in Arlington, Texas. With all this combined, talent will only have to travel the road for four months out of the next year.
The press claps for this address, very excited for this means for the future.
Kai Morgan: In the end, there’s a lot more to be done in regards to talent wellness, but I believe some of the changes I’ve made today will start that progress off correctly. Thank you.
Morgan exits the stage as the press continue to clap. We fade out as we zoom in on the glow neon sign of Zion Stadium.
